The world enters a new year every trip around the sun on Jan 1 of the calendar year. Our birthdates service as new years to those who celebrate another year here on earth.
The Advantage of a New Year
A new year is: The passing of Time.
An opportunity to redefine your priorities.
An opportunity to redefine your purpose.
An opportunity to redefine your life’s vision.
An opportunity to reestablish worthwhile goals.
An opportunity to bury the past and move into a new future.
The Principles of Time
Time is a blessing or curse depending on how you manage. Time is life.
Life is Time.
Life is defined as Time.
Life is measured in Time.
Life is determined by the time.
Life is lived out in Time.
Life is qualified by time.
The passing of Time is the passing of life.
Life stops when Time stops.
Death is life leaving time.
Time is temporary- Life is eternal.
What Is Time?
Time is an interruption in eternity.
Time is a small measure of Eternity.
Time is a piece of eternity.
Time is a slice of forever.
Time is the limited period during which an action or process exists and takes place.
Time is the measurement of space.
Time is the passing of existence.
From Eternity into Time
But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does? I have had a good look at what God has given us to do—busywork, mostly. True, God made everything beautiful and in its time.
But he’s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he’s coming or going. I’ve decided that there’s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That’s it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It’s God’s gift. Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 MSG
The Creation of Time
God spoke: “Lights! Come out! Shine in Heaven’s sky! Separate Day from Night. Mark seasons, days, and years, Lights in Heaven’s sky to give light to Earth.” And there it was. Genesis 1:14-15 MSG
The Purpose of Time
To take you out of eternity.
To protect you from forever.
To measure the existence of life.
To define life.
To measure the quality of life.
To account for your life.
To define the distance between your beginning and end.
To live life in doses.
To measure the purpose of life.
Time Limitations
Mortals have a limited life span.
You’ve already decided how long we’ll live— you set the boundary, and no one can cross it.
So why not give us a break? Ease up!
Even ditch-diggers get occasional days off.
For a tree, there is always hope.
Chop it down and it still has a chance—its roots can put out fresh sprouts.
Even if its roots are old and gnarled, its stump long dormant,
At the first whiff of water, it comes to life, buds and grows like a sapling.
But people? They die and stay dead.
They breathe their last, and that’s it.
Like lakes and rivers that have dried up, parched reminders of what once was,
So, mortals lie down and never get up, never wake up again—never.
Why don’t you just bury me alive, get me out of the way until your anger cools?
But don’t leave me there!
Set a date when you’ll see me again.
If we humans die, will we live again? That’s my question.
All through these difficult days, I keep hoping, waiting for the final change—for resurrection! Job 14:5-14 MSG
What Does It Mean to Maximize Your Time?
Determined Time is Determined. Meaning having a strong feeling that you are going to do something and that you will not allow anyone or anything to stop you.
Maximizing Your Days
“Tell me, what’s going on, God?
How long do I have to live?
Give me the bad news!
You’ve kept me on short rations.
my life is a string too short to be saved.
Oh! we’re all puffs of air.
Oh! we’re all shadows in a campfire.
Oh! we’re just spitting in the wind.
We make our pile, and then we leave it. Ps 39:4-6 MSG
Oh! Teach us to live well!
Teach us to live wisely and well!
Come back, God—how long do we have to wait? — and treat your servants with kindness for a change.
Surprise us with love at daybreak.
Then we will skip and dance all day long.
Make up for the troubled times with some good times.
We have seen enough evil to last a lifetime.
Let your servants see what you are best at—the ways you rule and bless your children.
And let the loveliness of our Lord, our God, rest on us, confirming the work that we do.
Oh, yes. Affirm the work that we do! Ps 90:12-17 MSG
Yes, there is a right time and way for everything, even though, unfortunately, we miss it.
It is true that no one knows what is going to happen, or when. Who is around to tell us? Ecclesiastes 8:6-7 MSG
