Elevator Encounters: Trusting Divine Timing in Your Rise
It is a soul-stirring story about divine alignment, destiny, and how elevator moments can teach us to trust God’s timing in our personal growth and purpose.
Some moments feel small — like riding an elevator with a stranger. But what if that brief encounter was a divine clue?
A few days ago, I stepped into an elevator on the first floor. As the doors closed, I realized I was rising to the 31st floor… and the only other person in the elevator was headed to the 33rd.
Now, I’ve learned not to ignore moments like this.
There was something sacred about the silence between us. A knowing. A sense of significance. As the numbers climbed, I realized this wasn’t just a ride — it was a revelation.
Today, we’re discussing the elevator encounters in life — those symbolic, sudden, and seemingly random experiences that hold a mirror up to your faith, fears, and future.
Trusting Divine Timing in Your Rise
Here’s how to recognize them, what they mean, and how to trust divine timing in your rise.
1. Recognize Divine Appointments in Disguise
Not every elevation comes with applause.
Sometimes, you get one ride… one chance… one floor at a time. You don’t always get to see who’s going with you or why. You don’t always get to stop and explain your purpose. But you do get to decide how you show up in the moment.
Elevator encounters are symbolic of acceleration, alignment, and spiritual sensitivity.
They often show up when you’re:
- Feeling unseen or stagnant
- Questioning whether your path is still “on track”
- Preparing for a new level that you didn’t anticipate
These moments don’t announce themselves. But if you’re spiritually awake, you’ll feel them in your bones. They’ll challenge you to either shrink back or stand tall.
What if your next level is already programmed — and all you have to do is stay on the elevator? If you’re in a transition season, this post on what to do after getting fired will speak directly to your soul.
2. Understand the Power of Timing, Numbers & Symbolism
I was headed to floor 31. He was headed to 33. A part of me whispered: “This is prophetic.”
In the Bible, the number 33 is often associated with promise, completion, and the age at which Jesus fulfilled His earthly assignment. The number 31 is a reminder of the Proverbs 31 woman — a woman who moves with wisdom, grace, and divine strategy.
This wasn’t just about buildings or buttons. This was about becoming.
If you’ve been feeling delayed or discouraged, let this be your confirmation: God’s timing is perfect, and every delay is a setup for divine clarity. Surrendering to timing often opens the exact door you’ve been praying for. You are not behind. You’re being prepared.
3. Stay Present on the Way Up
Here’s what I’ve learned:
- You don’t need to rush divine elevation
- You’re not in competition with who’s going higher
- The floor you’re headed to has your name on it — and your preparation is the password
Elevator encounters teach you how to move in faith, not force. You don’t have to manipulate your way to the top. You need to trust the One who programmed the path.
When you try to open doors before their time, you get off on the wrong floor. Waiting on divine timing helps you reach the right moment. This is when your gifts shine, and you’re ready to make an impact.
4. How to Discern Your Divine Timing
Here are signs that it’s time to rise — but not rush:
- You’ve been growing in private with no external validation.
- You’ve been pruning relationships, habits, or mindsets that no longer align with your goals.
- You’re craving solitude, stillness, or structure — more than the spotlight.
- You feel peace even when you don’t have all the pieces.
These are not signs of failure — they’re signs of favor.

5. Walk in the Room Like You Were Sent, Not Self-Made
When that elevator opened on the 31st floor, I didn’t look back to see where he went. I knew I was where I was meant to be.
You don’t have to explain your elevation to anyone.
When God opens a door, walk through it boldly.
- You’ve outgrown apologizing for your anointing.
- You’ve graduated from waiting for validation.
- You’ve been called to lead, heal, build, and be seen.
The man on floor 33 reminded me: Even in silence, your elevation is sacred.
Some people are riding with you to remind you that you’re not the only one rising and recognizing that strategic stillness and discernment can be more potent than rushing results. Read more about trusting divine timing.
Final Thoughts: Keep Riding. Keep Rising.
Your elevator moment might not look like mine — but I promise it’s coming.
When it does, don’t miss it because you’re distracted. Don’t get off early because of fear. Don’t question who else is in the room.
You were built for the top.
And the timing is never random — it’s divinely programmed.
