The Black Economic Blackout isn’t just a social media moment. It’s a collective pause—a refusal to keep funding systems that profit from us while leaving our communities underprotected, underpaid, and undercapitalized. It’s a protest, yes. But it’s also pattern recognition. It’s people waking up to the fact that spending power without leverage is a loop.

And if you’re feeling tension around this movement, you’re not alone.

Because here’s what many people won’t say out loud: a lot of Black creators have built their livelihood on digital platforms that are part of the very systems we’re protesting. That doesn’t automatically make them sellouts. It makes them human—living inside a reality where you still have to feed your household while you fight for change.

You can honor the blackout.
You can honor your convictions.
You can honor your budget, your responsibilities, and your limitations.
